Our Projects

  • Global 2050 was formed to publish Green Central Banking, previously a media property of The Sunrise Project. It was launched in 2021 with a mission to develop the first non-profit independent news source to support efforts to align the finance sector with the goals of the Paris Agreement. The project was developed by Hilal Atici, Co-Program Director of Financial Regulation and Policy at Sunrise, who remains an advisor to the project. In collaboration with Positive Money, Green Central Banking also developed and published the Green Central Banking Scorecard, the only tool that assesses the environmental and climate policies of the 20 top central banks. 

    In 2023, Sunrise agreed to transfer Green Central Banking to Global 2050, a U.S.-based 501 C3 non-profit committed to continuing to fund its publication.

Scorecard & Assesments

Green Central Banking has developed and published the Green Central Banking Scorecard, which assesses central banks' environmental policies across research, advocacy, monetary policy, and financial policy. This scorecard helps central bankers and financial supervisors evaluate their progress and identify areas for improvement.
